Sage Digital ENDEC Quick Start Rev 2.0
a time source. If the ENDEC time does not synchronize, use different servers, or check to make sure your
firewall is not blocking NTP UDP packets.
13.2.2 CAP servers
The ENDEC polls the list of servers that you provide, looking for CAP messages. The FEMA IPAWS
server is installed by default, this will be the only server that most users will need. Your State EAS plan
will provide details on any other servers or CAP sources that you need to include.
The ENDEC will poll the servers using addresses you provide. The ENDEC will also attempt to fetch
audio files references in CAP messages. These are provided by alert originators. FEMA, Sage, and you
have no control or advance knowledge of the URL passed by the originator. Also, be aware that FEMA
and other alert providers may use multiple IP addresses to host its servers, using the same host name. You
will not be able to use outbound firewall limits on the ENDEC’s fetch locations for audio.
13.2.3 Network Printer
The ENDEC sends alert logs to a supported network printer. Currently, the ENDEC supports several types
of HP common laser and inkjet printers only.
