Adjusting the Timing Belt Tension (Ribbon
Motors, Optional Ribbon Saver Motor)
Required tool:
Phillips screwdriver
1 Make sure that the printer is in power off mode, then disconnect the power cord from
the AC outlet.
2 Open the rear housing covers of the printer.
Refer to Section 5.1.1 Opening the Rear Housing Cover for details.
3 Locate the ribbon motors (rewind and supply) and the optional saver motor as shown
below.
4 Loosen two fixing screws of the ribbon rewind motor and two fixing screws of
the ribbon supply motor.
Important: Do not remove the screws.
5 Loosen three fixing screws of the optional ribbon saver motor.
Skip this step if the optional ribbon saver is not installed.
Important: Do not remove the screws.
Note
To access the screw at the bottom of the ribbon saver motor, you have to remove the gearbox first. Refer to
Section 5.9 Replacing the Timing Belt for the procedure to remove the gearbox.
