StepOne Electronics Troubleshooting
Symptom:
1. No display when operated
2. Touchscreen does not respond to touch
3. Tactile buttons do not respond
4. Stride length is too short (.3”)
5. When operated, steps per minute (SPM) is 0, stride is 0, watts reading is reasonable for the set resistance level
6. No resistance
7. Full resistance at all levels
8. High starting resistance
9. Display shuts off immediately when user stops exercising
10. Fit-Key port does not work
11. Charging port does not work
12. Heart rate monitor does not pick up chest strap signal – reads 0
13. Heart rate monitor picks up false signal – detects heart rate with no chest strap present
14. No RPM signal
Troubleshooting steps / solution:
1. No display when operated
a . C heck f or po wer i ndicator light inside c onsole by kne eling at t he f ront l eft s ide of t he m achine, then l ook
t hrough t he vent hol es on t he ba ck of t he c onsole. To e nsure t he l ight is v isible, your he ad s hould be
be tween 12 a nd 18 i nches f rom t he l eft s ide c over of t he m achine, at a he ight that puts you e yes l evel
w ith t he ve nt. I f r ed l ight is vi sible, this i ndicates that the c onsole ha s pow er a nd i s not w orking a s i t
should. The console should be replaced. If light is not visible, proceed to b.
b. Remove the front lower cover to gain access to the lower
c ontroller board. C rank t he m achine (at a r ate of a t l east 40 S PM) a nd c heck f or l ights on
t he controller board. There should be 2 l ights, one blinking (labeled DS)
a nd one steady (labeled DS2). If these lights are not on, or a re not w orking
a s described, the c ontroller board should be replaced. If these lights do
work as described, the power supply is working properly. Proceed to c.
c. C heck t he c onnection of t he c ommunication cable that pl ugs i nto P 6 on t he c ontroller board
a nd a lso i nto P 6 on t he ba ck of t he c onsole ( The c onsole w ill ha ve t o be r emoved to
c heck t he c onnection). Check t he c onnections by unpl ugging a nd r econnecting the c able.
The c onnector should s nap w hen pl ugged i n. R eattach the c onsole a nd pus h t he f ootpads t o
operate the machine. If the console still does not power on, replace the power supply board.
