Motors
Figure 13 shows the location of the Motors.

Each Wheel is independently driven by redundant, high-speed
electric Motors that are quiet and efficient. Each Motor is computer-
controlled to precisely regulate the Segway PT’s motion.
Each Motor is wound as two separate electrical circuits, capable of
independent operation, acting as one mechanical entity. If either
winding in a Motor fails, the Segway PT will perform a Safety
Shutdown.
