Gearbox Installation (cont.)
5. Align the couplings and gearbox housing roll pins
with the chassis. See Figure 7–5 (only one roll pin
shown).
NOTICE
Although the motor is shown out of position in
Figure 7–5 (to make couplings and roll pins visible),
motor is still in place during this procedure.
6. Check to ensure both gaskets are in good condition
and properly located.
7. Inspect the roll pins to ensure they are in place and
free of residue.
8. Using a rubber mallet, gently tap the gearbox
outer cover at the locations indicated by arrows in
Figure 7–6 to seat the gearbox against the chassis
until the mating surfaces are flush. Alternate strike
points from side to side to seat the gearbox evenly.
CAUTION!
Do not strike the gearbox flange. Striking the flange
could knock it out of alignment, damaging the
gearbox.
NOTICE
Do not use the gearbox fasteners to seat the
gearbox to the chassis. Make sure the gearbox and
spacer are completely seated prior to tightening
the gearbox to the specified torque. Failure to do so
could result in stripped chassis holes.
9. Using a T-45 6-lobe wrench, install three new
gearbox fasteners. Torque to 40 N-m (30 ft-lbf).
10. Install the Front and Rear Fascia (page 6–4).
11. Install the Console Cover (page 6–3).
12. Install the Fenders
