11. Remove the bolt, 1, from the drive shaft and take
out the drive shaft, 4.
12. Remove the front wheels from the axle.
13. With the jack firmly in place under the axle, loosen
and remove the front, 2, and rear, 3, axle mounts.
14. Place the axle on a suitable workbench, or work
surface.
2. FRONT AXLE DISASSEMBLY
1) Final Drive Case Cover
1. Remove the bolts, 1, from the case cover, 2.
WARNING
If bearing, 3, is removed from the final drive case, 4, the
final drive case will fall. Use caution during removal to
avoid personal injury.
2. Remove the wheel hub assembly from the final drive
case.
NOTE : Do not remove the bearing from the final
drive case at this time.
2) Steering Cylinder
1. Remove the cotter pin, 1, from the tie rod end
mount bolt.
2. Loosen and remove the tie rod end nuts, 2, and
remove the tie rod ends from the steering arms.
3. Remove the four steering cylinder mount bolts, 3,
and remove the two mount brackets, 4, and steering
cylinder, 5, from the axle housing.
3) Final Drive Case
WARNING
The final drive case will fall away from the idler case
when bearing is removed. Use caution during removal
to avoid personal injury.
1. Remove the bearing, 2, from the final drive case, 1.
2. Remove the final drive case from the idler case, 3.
