7) Drive Pinion
1. Remove the oil seal, 1, and discard.
2. Remove the snap ring, 2, and collar, 3, from the
pinion shaft.
3. Remove the snap ring, 4, spacer, 5, and shims, 6.
NOTE: Observe the quantity and size of the shims, 6,
located between the spacer, 5, and bearing, 9,
for assembly. Shim sizes are 0.1 mm and
0.2mm.
4. Remove the drive pinion, 7, bearings, 8, and 9,
O-ring, 10, and collar, 11, together.
5. Clean all parts in a suitable cleaner.
3. DIFFERENTIAL ASSEMBLY OVERHAUL
1) Disassembly
1. Remove the clip, 8, that holds the ring gear, 7, to
the differential. Remove the ring gear and bearings,

2. Drive the roll pin, 1, out of the center pin, 2.
3. Remove the center pin, 2, and bevel gears, 3.
4. Remove the differential gears, 4, and thrust
washers, 5, from the differential housing, 6.
5. Clean all parts in a suitable solvent.
2) Inspection
1. Inspect the differential housing for cracks.
2. Inspect the gears for missing or chipped teeth.
3) Assembly
1. Apply a light coating of grease onto the thrust
washers. Install the thrust washers, and differential
gears into the differential housing.
NOTE: The oil groove in the thrust washer must face
the differential gear.
2. Install the bevel gears and center shaft into the
differential housing, and drive the roll pin into the
center pin.
3. Install the bearings and ring gear. Install the clip that
holds the ring gear to the differential.
