7.1 Status polling with the detector exchanger and tester
All detectors have an interface to the detector exchanger and tester. With this
interface, proximity data exchange is possible between the detector and the
detector exchanger and tester FDUD29x. Depending on the authorization level of
the user and the control panel type, the following actions can be performed:
z Device test (Go / No Go or detailed by status polling)
z Activation of a test alarm
z Reading out the identification number, customer text and measure text
z Localization and parameter setting of the detector (parameter setting not in
FDnet mode)
z Switching off the detector
z Resetting the control panel
For detailed information, please refer to the operating instructions of the detector
exchanger and tester (see documents 007227 and 009718).
7.2 Performance check
Through the self-test, the detectors are automatically subjected to an electrical
performance check. Regular performance checks are nevertheless required on the
detectors. This may be done with the detector exchanger and tester, test gas or by
the hot air fan.
Recommendation:
z Subject all detectors to an annual visual check. Detectors that are heavily
soiled or mechanically damaged must be replaced.
z All detectors should be replaced after 6 to 8 years of service, regardless of the
ambient conditions.
