Why won’t my computer work after I’ve installed the
U
P0/E
PCI card?
With some computers, you must do some additional configuring
before the PC card will operate correctly:
1. Find out whether you have the latest BIOS version for your
motherboard. If not, obtain it from the PC or motherboard
manufacturer (for example, via the Internet). A BIOS update
should be performed by experienced personnel only.
2. Check whether the BIOS is configured correctly. In some com-
puters that have a PCI bus, the PCI slots must be enabled in
the BIOS. This is often the case with computers with a Phoe-
nix-BIOS.
– After installing the PC card, connect your computer to the
power supply network and start the setup program. You
can usually access this program by pressing a key combi-
nation displayed on the screen, such as F1+Del or
Ctrl+Alt+S.
– Look in the BIOS for PCI slot entries. They can be found
in the main menu or under Advanced System Configura-
tion. If necessary, change the settings:
BIOS System Parameters:
Settings:
PCI Slot Number Slot in which the
PC card is installed.
Master ENABLED
Slave ENABLED
Interrupt Select a free interrupt
provided by the system.
Edge of level Level Triggered Interrupt
(Note: Terms may vary from BIOS to BIOS.)
– Save your settings and exit the setup program. Resume
installation.
