5.7.3 Reaction times
The reaction time to an interrupted light array (ESPE) or a pressure-sensitive edge can be
determined by measuring the motor current reduction. To this end, the ESPE or pressure-
sensitive edge system can be activated (interrupted or triggered) during constant travel so that
the drive reverses.
The reaction times are independent of the sensor type (ESPE or pressure-sensitive edge). The
minimal response time amounts to 70 ms and the maximum response time amounts to 90 ms.
The delay caused by additional switchgear in the signal chain and by the sensor technology itself
must be added.
5.7.4 Stopping distances
The following table shows the expected stopping distances depending on the dierent
declaration ramps and dierent initial speeds, under consideration of a response time of 90 ms
(ESPE and / or pressure-sensitive edge, see section Reaction times (Page 171)).
