Configuration and parameter assignment
4.1 Hardware configuration
As of STEP 7 Basic/Professional V17, the communication module RF120C (V2.0) is integrated
in the TIA Portal and can be integrated into SIMATIC automation systems via the SIMATIC S7-
1200 controller. The basic configuration as well as operation of the communications module
takes place via the Ident library of the TIA Portal.
4.2 Configuration
Requirement
STEP 7 Basic / Professional is installed and started, and a project is open. The communications
module is installed in the SIMATIC S7-1200 controller and connected.
Procedure
Follow these steps to configure the communications module using the TIA Portal:
1. Change to the Project view.
2. Using the project tree, insert a SIMATIC S7-1200 controller in the project with the "Add new
device" menu command.
The device view opens and the controller is displayed.
3. Drag the communications module from the hardware catalog into the controller.
You will find the RF120C module under the following path in the device configuration:
"SIMATIC S7-1200 > Communications modules > Identification systems > RF120C"
4. Configure the communications module.
5. Assign parameters to the communications module.
6. Save the configuration.
You can connect and configure a maximum of three RF120C modules per station.
4.3 Parameter assignment with the device configuration
You can set the basic parameters of the communication module using the properties window
of the communication module. A more in-depth parameter assignment of the
communication module RF120C (V2.0) as well as the devices connected to it, takes place via
the technology object "SIMATIC Ident > TO_Ident" of the TIA Portal as of V17.
