Introduction
The Siemens SITRANS F US Clamp-on Flow Meters can be furnished with the Part Number
A5E31949269 optional communications module card that provides BACnet communications
over Ethernet or MSTP RS485.
BACnet is a standard communication protocol for

uilding

utomation and
C
ontrol
Net
works
developed by the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers
(ASHRAE). BACnet provides the communication infrastructure needed to integrate products
made by different vendors. BACnet communication is based on standard objects. Each
BACnet Device includes a Device Object and other optional objects within the device. Each
object has associated properties.
The A5E31949269 functions as a BACnet master device on an Ethernet or MSTP RS485
network. A typical illustration of how this might be configured in a plant network is shown in
the figure below.
