NOTE

Water-carrying lines are colonized with bacteria which
can be sprayed with the handpiece during normal opera-
tion.
The ADA (American Dental Association) recommends a
level of less than 200 cfu/ml (colony forming units).
To ensure bacteriologically safe operation of the unit,
Sirona recommends that you:
– Flush all water lines to be used for treatment with fresh
water for 2 min. at the beginning of each workday as de-
scribed in chapter 5.
– Use exclusively the rinsing media tanks and not the
fresh water connection.
– Use only rinsing media that are diluted with sterile wa-
ter.
– Flush the rinsing media lines and the two rinsing media
tanks twice a day with sterile water or a liquid disinfec-
tant, e.g. 3 % H
2
O
2
or 0.2 % chlorhexidine.
– Duly perform sanitation as described in chapter 8.
