9 Decalcification
Once a month the PerioScan should be rinsed with 450
ml (corresponds to the contents of the large rinsing
media tank) of a solution comprising 2 parts room-tem-
perature water and one part AlproCalex (Fa. Alpro Med-
ical GmbH, REF 3805).
The instrument tip and PerioSonic handpiece must be
removed first and must not be decalcified.
Then the tank must be cleaned and filled with tap water
and the unit must be rinsed for at least one minute in
order to remove any decalcifier residues from the water
lines.
If the unit is operated at a reduced flow rate or with very
calcareous water, decalcification may be required more
often.
10 Other display messages
If the "Service" display appears on the screen, a defect
has usually occurred.
Please check the following points and work through
chapter 11 (Troubleshooting):
• Is the handpiece properly attached and is an instru-
ment tip screwed on?
• Does the SERVICE message disappear if you leave
the unit switched off for at least 30 seconds and then
switch it back on again?
• Please perform a reset (see page 15).
If the fault cannot be corrected, please contact your local
dental depot.
