3.1.2 Three-lead measurement
In order to eliminate the influence of surface resistance in transformers, cables, etc. the three-
lead measurement is used, but do not connect the current measuring test lead R

- to large ground
conductors. For example:
at the measurement of inter-winding resistance of a transformer, G socket of the meter should be
connected to the transformer tank;
when measuring the insulation resistance between one of the windings and the transformer’s tank,
connect G socket of the meter to the second winding:
