Communicating with an Access Point (infrastructure)
An infrastructure network is a network that extends an existing wired local network to wireless devices by providing an Access Point,
for example the Sony PCWA-A320 Access Point. The Access Point bridges the wireless and wired LAN and acts as a central
controller for the Wireless LAN. The Access Point coordinates transmission and reception from multiple wireless devices within a
specific range.
To communicate with an Access Point (infrastructure), proceed as follows:
1 Set up the Access Point as described in the manual delivered with the Access Point and turn on the Access Point.
2 Turn on the wireless switch.
If your computer supports Bluetooth technology, the Wireless Device Switch dialog box appears.
Select the Enable 2.4 GHz Wireless LAN check box and deselect the Enable Bluetooth Device check box, then click the OK
button.
The Wireless LAN indicator lights up.
3 Right-click the network icon in the taskbar displaying Wireless Network Connection.
4 Click View Available Wireless Networks.
The Wireless Network Connection dialog box appears.
The Access Points appears in the list.
If the Access Point is not displayed, click the Refresh network list link.
5 Select the network you want to use and click the Connect button.
The Wireless Network Connection dialog box appears.
6 Typ e the Network key if applicable and click the Connect button.
After 30 seconds, the connection is established.
Once you are connected, you see the word Connected appear behind the name of the network.
