Malfunction Cause Remedy
The instrument cannot be
switched on.
The power plug is not
plugged in properly.
Check if the power plug was
properly plugged in.
Power is not available. Check the power supply.
Defective fuse. Check the fuse inside the power
connection socket. If necessary,
replace the fuse.
The burn spot is
incorrect.
The argon outlet (exhaust)
is clogged with
condensate.
Clean the spark stand including
the argon outlet.
Insufficient argon supply. Check argon supply and
pressure.
Poor argon quality. Connect new argon;
specifications, chapter 3
„Technical data“ on page 20.
Incorrect electrode gap. Clean the electrode and re-
adjust
the gap using the spacer.
Plasma generator faulty. Please contact your Service
Center.
The samples have not
been prepared properly.
The sample surface is not
flat enough.
Prepare sample properly, (grind,
turn or mill).
