What to do if SPECTRO SPECTROTEST Measuring Instruments does not generate sparks?
    • J
      Joel HayesAug 2, 2025
If the SPECTRO Measuring Instruments unit fails to generate sparks in arc or spark mode, and the software indicates a 'not active' status in Windows, press 'Esc' or click the measuring window with the left mouse button of the trackball. Also, ensure that the electrode gap is properly adjusted after cleaning the electrode using the spacer. If these steps do not resolve the issue, the sample probe start button or the plasma generator might be defective, in which case you should contact your service center. It is also possible that the plasma generator parameters were modified or deleted, you must have the former settings restored by qualified personnel.

What to do if actual values are below limit values on SPECTRO Measuring Instruments?
    • J
      Jacob CalderonAug 10, 2025
If the actual values are below the stored limit values for the reference elements (resulting in an error message) on your SPECTRO Measuring Instruments, first, check that the adapter is correctly oriented in arc mode, ensuring one opening faces the fiber-optics window. Also, verify that the spark (arc) adapter is fully locked in place. Make sure the electrode gap is correctly adjusted using the spacer. Ensure the samples have been properly prepared according to the instructions for achieving a correct focal spot in spark mode. Finally, confirm that the material is being measured with the appropriate program for its base (e.g., use Co-01 for a Co sample).

How to troubleshoot SPECTRO SPECTROTEST that won't turn on?
    • K
      Kevin LopezAug 15, 2025
If your SPECTRO Measuring Instruments unit cannot be switched on, start by checking that the mains power supply plug is properly plugged in. Next, ensure the drawer with the storage battery is correctly seated, allowing proper contact. If the issue persists, the battery may not be charged; charge it as detailed in the separate instruction manual. If none of these steps work, a computer component or another subassembly connected with it may be defective, please contact your service center.

Why is SPECTRO SPECTROTEST Measuring Instruments software running slowly?
    • S
      Samantha ZimmermanSep 12, 2025
If the software on your SPECTRO Measuring Instruments reacts slowly, possibly due to long measuring times, it might be because a virus scanner is installed. To resolve this, add the directory "C:\Spectro Smart Studio\Spark Analyzer Pro Mobile" or the processes "TXC03MeasurementGUI.exe" and "TXC03MethDevGUI.exe" to the exceptions list in your virus scanner to prevent them from being scanned.

What to do if SPECTRO SPECTROTEST Measuring Instruments trackball is not working?
    • A
      Andrew EspinozaAug 25, 2025
If the trackball on your SPECTRO Measuring Instruments doesn't move freely or trigger screen movements, the trackball surface might be soiled. Try cleaning the trackball surface. If the problem persists, the cable or trackball may be defective, please contact your service center.

How to fix no correct focal spot in spark mode on SPECTRO SPECTROTEST Measuring Instruments?
    • D
      douglas15Nov 5, 2025
If you're not getting a correct focal spot in spark mode on your SPECTRO Measuring Instruments, it might be due to several reasons. First, ensure the pressure controller on the gas cylinder is open wide enough, adjusting the pressure as indicated in the software status line. Check that the argon supply line quick-release coupling is properly locked, and the adapter is correctly seated. Prepare the sample surface appropriately, ensuring it is polished and free of roughness or air inclusions. Also, verify and adjust the electrode gap using the spacer. Clean the adapter to prevent clogging of the flushing bores. If the argon outlet is plugged with condensate, use the 'Flush' function, briefly closing the sample opening and exhaust during the process. If the pressure monitor and the flow contr...
