51 Commissioning and Safe Operation
The machine and all connected components have to be wired correctly and be in perfect condition. The opera-
tor must have completely read and understood the entire documentation of the CNC machine and correspond-
ing instructions. Furthermore, the operator has to be familiar with the use of CNC gantry milling systems and
CNC software. The workplace needs to be compliant with the applicable regulations and provisions of the respective
industry. While commissioning, you should check if the probe works as intended.
When using UCCNC, you can see a signal
called Probe/TLS status, which reacts to the
touch probe.
Alternatively you can go to the menu Diag-
nostics and check the status of Probe.
When using WinPC-NC, navigate to Special func-
tions – Signal test. You can see a signal called
Length sensor, which reacts to the touch probe.
5 Operation
If you can not ensure your system to be grounded at the end mills tip (possi-
bly because there is coating separating the milling motor and the tool holders
bare metal) you should use the grounding clamp. The best practice is to
clamp it right on the end mill. This can be necessary on the STEPCRAFT
D-Series (2
nd
gen.). The current D-Series (3
rd
gen.) and M-Series do not re-
quire this.
