Electronic Parking Brake (From 15MY)
Equipped 15MY (and later, trim dependent) vehicles feature a redesigned “caliper integrated”
Electronic Parking Brake (EPB) system. The redesigned system eliminates the need for a
separate control module and simplifies the mechanical application of the rear brakes.

EPB System Overview
The enhanced 15MY system eliminates the drum-in-hat style parking brake and utilizes an
internal motor actuator to apply the disc brake pads to the brake rotor.
Caution: There is no manual release for the EPB. Servicing of the rear brake pads requires
the use of the Subaru Select Monitor or generic caliper tool.
