Cylinder Head
Initially inspect cylinder head. Refer to Figure
72-00-08.4.

(1) Inspect cylinder head valve seats.

(2) Inspect cylinder for loose or damaged
studs.

replaced with oversized studs using
0.003, 0.007, or 0.012 inch.
(3) Inspect cylinder head spark plug
helical coil inserts.

(4) Inspect cylinder rocker box covers,

Cylinder Head Dimensional Inspections
Inspect the rocker shaft bushings.
Check the ID of the rocker
shaft bushings a minimum
of two (2) positions, 90
degrees apart. Several
check locations are
preferred.

Cylinder Barrel Inspections
Visually inspect cylinder barrel for general
condition. Refer to Figure 72-00-08.4.

Visually inspect cylinder barrel cooling fins.
Notches and nicks
Blend with
hand grinder

Visually inspect cylinder barrel skirt.
