Followtheelectricalcoderequirementsofthelocalauthorityhaving
jurisdiction.Intheabsenceofsuchrequirements,followthelatesteditionof
theNationalElectricalCodeANSI/NFPA70intheU.S.orthelatestedition of
CSAC22.1CanadianElectricalCode,Part1,inCanada.
Whenservicingorreplacingpartswithinthewaterheater,labelallwires
priortodisconnectiontofacilitateaneasyanderror‐freereconnection.
Wiringerrorscancauseimproperanddangerousoperation.Verifyproper
operationafterservicing.
ELECTRICALCONNECTIONS
1. Thewaterheatermustbeelectricallygrounded.Donotattachthegroundwiretoeitherthegasor
thewaterpiping.
2. Thewaterheaterrequires120VAC/60Hzelectricalpowersupplythatisproperlygrounded.
• A proper disconnect (i.e. on/off switch, power plug, etc.) controlling the main power to the
waterheatermustbeprovidedforservicereasons.(Mustcomplywithlocalcodes).
• Connect thepowersupply
tothewaterheaterexactlyasshowninthewiringdiagram;
3. Agreenscrewisprovidedinthejunctionboxtogroundtheconnection.
4. Canbehardwiredorwiredtoaplug‐in.
5. Theuseofasurgeprotectorisrecommendedinordertoprotecttheunit
frompowersurges.
