A. This water heater does  not have a pilot. It is equipped with  an ignition device that
automaticallylightstheburner.Donot
trytolighttheburnerbyhand.
B. BEFORE OPERATING smell all around the water heater area for evidence of leaking gas. Be
sure to smell next to the floor because some gas is heavier than air  and will settle on the
floor.
WHATTODOIFYOUSMELLGAS.
• Donottrytolightanyappliance.
• Donottouchanyelectricswitch;donotuseanyphoneinyourbuilding.
• Immediately callyourgassupplierfromaneighbor'sphone.Followthegassupplier's
instructions.
• Ifyoucannotreachyourgassupplier,callthefiredepartment.

Use only your hand to turn the gasvalveknob.Neveruse tools. Iftheknobwill not turn by
hand,don'ttrytorepairit,callaqualifiedservice technician.For ceorattemptedrepairmay
resultinafireofexplosion.
D. Do not use this water heater if
any part has been under water. Immediately call a qualified
servicetechniciantoinspectthewaterheaterandtoreplaceanydamagedparts.
OPERATINGINSTRUCTIONS
1. STOP!Readthesafetyinformationabov eorintheOwnersManual.
2. Turnoffallelectricpowertothewaterheater.
3. Donotattempttolighttheburnerbyhand.
4. Turnthemanualgasvalvelocatedontheoutsideoftheunitclockwise↻totheoffposition.

5. Waitfive(5)minutestoclearoutanygas.Ifyouthensmellgas.STOP!Follow"B"inthesafety
informationaboveonthislabel.Ifyoudon'tsmellgas,gotonextstep.
6. Turnthemanualgasvalvelocatedontheoutsideoftheunitcounterclockwise
↺totheON
position.
7. Turnonallelectricalpowertothewaterheater.
8. Ifthewaterheaterwillnotoperate,followtheinstructions“toTurnOffGastowaterheater"
andCallyourservicetechnicianorgassupplier.
TOTURNOFFGASTOAPPLIANCE
1. Turnoffallelectricpowertothewaterheaterifserviceistobeperformed.
2. Turnthemanualgasvalvelocatedontheoutsideoftheunitclockwise↻totheoff position.
