A. This water heater does not have a pilot. It is equipped with an ignition device that
automaticallylightstheburner.Donot
trytolighttheburnerbyhand.
B. BEFORE OPERATING smell all around the water heater area for evidence of leaking gas. Be
sure to smell next to the floor because some gas is heavier than air and will settle on the
floor.
WHATTODOIFYOUSMELLGAS.
• Donottrytolightanyappliance.
• Donottouchanyelectricswitch;donotuseanyphoneinyourbuilding.
• Immediately callyourgassupplierfromaneighbor'sphone.Followthegassupplier's
instructions.
• Ifyoucannotreachyourgassupplier,callthefiredepartment.

Use only your hand to turn the gasvalveknob.Neveruse tools. Iftheknobwill not turn by
hand,don'ttrytorepairit,callaqualifiedservice technician.For ceorattemptedrepairmay
resultinafireofexplosion.
D. Do not use this water heater if
any part has been under water. Immediately call a qualified
servicetechniciantoinspectthewaterheaterandtoreplaceanydamagedparts.
OPERATINGINSTRUCTIONS
1. STOP!Readthesafetyinformationabov eorintheOwnersManual.
2. Turnoffallelectricpowertothewaterheater.
3. Donotattempttolighttheburnerbyhand.
4. Turnthemanualgasvalvelocatedontheoutsideoftheunitclockwise↻totheoffposition.
5. Waitfive(5)minutestoclearoutanygas.Ifyouthensmellgas.STOP!Follow"B"inthesafety
informationaboveonthislabel.Ifyoudon'tsmellgas,gotonextstep.
6. Turnthemanualgasvalvelocatedontheoutsideoftheunitcounterclockwise
↺totheON
position.
7. Turnonallelectricalpowertothewaterheater.
8. Ifthewaterheaterwillnotoperate,followtheinstructions“toTurnOffGastowaterheater"
andCallyourservicetechnicianorgassupplier.
TOTURNOFFGASTOAPPLIANCE
1. Turnoffallelectricpowertothewaterheaterifserviceistobeperformed.
2. Turnthemanualgasvalvelocatedontheoutsideoftheunitclockwise↻totheoff position.
