GeneralSafety
•Neverallowchildrenoruntrainedpeopleto
operateorservicethemachine.Localregulations
mayrestricttheageoftheoperator.Theowner
isresponsiblefortrainingalloperatorsand
mechanics.
•Becomefamiliarwiththesafeoperationofthe
equipment,operatorcontrols,andsafetysigns.
•Engagetheparkingbrake,shutoffthemachine,
removethekey,andwaitforallmovementtostop
beforeyouleavetheoperator’sposition.Allow
themachinetocoolbeforeadjusting,servicing,
cleaning,orstoringit.
•Knowhowtostopthemachineandshutoffthe
machinequickly.
•Checkthatoperator-presencecontrols,safety
switches,andsafetyprotectivedevicesare
attachedandfunctioningproperly.Donotoperate
themachineunlesstheyarefunctioningproperly.
•Beforemowing,alwaysinspectthemachineto
ensurethatthecuttingunitsareingoodworking
condition.
•Inspecttheareawhereyouwillusethemachine
andremoveallobjectsthatthemachinecould
throw.
FuelSafety
•Useextremecareinhandlingfuel.Itisammable
anditsvaporsareexplosive.
•Extinguishallcigarettes,cigars,pipes,andother
sourcesofignition.
•Useonlyanapprovedfuelcontainer.
•Donotremovethefuelcaporllthefueltank
whiletheengineisrunningorhot.
•Donotaddordrainfuelinanenclosedspace.
•Donotstorethemachineorfuelcontainerwhere
thereisanopename,spark,orpilotlight,such
asonawaterheaterorotherappliance.
•Ifyouspillfuel,donotattempttostarttheengine;
avoidcreatinganysourceofignitionuntilthefuel
vaporshavedissipated.
FillingtheFuelTank
•Fueltankcapacity:22.7L(6U.S.gallons)
•RecommendedFuel:
–Forbestresults,useonlyclean,freshdiesel
fuelorbiodieselfuelswithlow(<500ppm)
orultralow(<15ppm)sulfurcontent.The
minimumcetaneratingshouldbe40.Purchase
fuelinquantitiesthatcanbeusedwithin180
daystoensurefuelfreshness.
–Usesummer-gradedieselfuel(No.2-D)
attemperaturesabove-7°C(20°F)and
winter-grade(No.1-DorNo.1-D/2-Dblend)
belowthattemperature.Useofwinter-grade
fuelatlowertemperaturesprovideslowerash
pointandcoldowcharacteristicswhichwill
easestartingandreducefuellterplugging.
Note:Useofsummer-gradefuelabove-7°
C(20°F)willcontributetowardlongerfuel
pumplifeandincreasedpowercomparedto
winter-gradefuel.
–Thismachinecanalsouseabiodiesel
blendedfuelofuptoB20(20%biodiesel,80%
petrodiesel).Thepetrodieselportionshouldbe
loworultra-lowsulfur.Observethefollowing
precautions:
◊Thebiodieselportionofthefuelmustmeet
specicationASTMD6751orEN14214.
◊Theblendedfuelcompositionshouldmeet
ASTMD975orEN590.
◊Paintedsurfacesmaybedamagedby
biodieselblends.
◊UseB5(biodieselcontentof5%)orlesser
blendsincoldweather.
◊Monitorseals,hoses,gasketsincontact
withfuelastheymaybedegradedover
time.
◊Fuellterpluggingmaybeexpectedfora
timeafterconvertingtobiodieselblends.
◊Contactyourdistributorifyouwishformore
informationonbiodiesel.
