Toro 4045 - Drill Pipe Removal Procedure

RemovingDrillPipes
1.Usingtheexit-side-lockouttransmitter,enabletheexit
sidelockout.
2.Installadrill-pipewiperaroundthepipeandintothe
retainingbracketonthefrontofthemachine.
Note:Thiswillremovemostofthedirtandmud
fromthepipeasyoupullitbackintothemachine,
keepingthemachineclean.ContactyourAuthorized
ToroDealertopurchasedrill-pipewipers.

3.Disengagetheexit-sidelockoutandresetthesystem.
4.Beginrotatingthedrillspindleclockwiseandslowly
retractthedrivecarriagetopullthepipebackintothe
machine.
5.Whenthejointbetweenthepipesiscenteredbetween
the2wrenches,thedrivecarriagewillstop,andagreen
lightwillilluminatebelowthesprayvalve.
6.Closethelowerwrench(stationarywrench)ontothe
pipejoint.
Note:Thedrillinguidwillautomaticallyshutoff
whenyouclosethelowerwrench(stationarywrench).
7.Rotatethepipecamtothedrillframe,extend
pipe-gripperarmstothepipe,andgripthepipeto
supportit.
8.Closetheupperwrench(makeup/breakoutwrench)
ontothepipejoint.
9.Rotatetheupperwrench(makeup/breakoutwrench)
counterclockwiseuntilthejointisloosened.
10.Releasetheupperwrench(makeup/breakoutwrench).
11.Pullbackthecarriageapproximately12.7mm(0.5
inch).
Note:Thiswillallowthecarriagetooat,andwillnot
damagethepipethreads.
12.Rotatethedrillspindlecounterclockwise,moving
rearwardslowlyuntilthepipesareseparated.
13.Movethedrillcarriagebackuntilthemale,pipethreads
justclearthefemaleendofthelowerpipe,thenclose
theupperwrench(makeup/breakoutwrench)ontothe
pipeend,butnotonthethreads.
14.Rotatethedrillspindlecounterclockwiseuntilthe
upper-pipejointisloosebutnotseparated.
15.Releasetheupperwrench(makeup/breakoutwrench).
16.Movethedrillcarriagebackuntilthepipeislinedup
withthepipeholder.
17.Rotatethedrillspindlecounterclockwise,moving
rearwardslowlyuntilthespindlefullyseparatesfrom
thepipe.
18.Rotatethepipe-gripperarmsuntilthepiperestsinside
thepipe-grippercam.
19.Rotatethepipecamtothedesiredrow.
Note:Filltheoutsiderowsrst.
20.Releasethepipegripper,andraisethepipeintothe
holderrowwiththepipeelevator.
21.Rotatethepipecampastthefourthrowofpipesto
thehomeposition.
Important:Ensurethatyoufullyretractthe
pipegripper,orthecarriagemaycollidewiththe
gripper,damagingthemachine.
22.Movethedrillspindledowntheframeunderthe
thread-joint-compoundapplicator,andspraythe
spindlewiththreadjointcompound.
23.Rotatethedrillspindleclockwise,andmovethe
carriageslowlyforwardtoinsertthespindleintothe
femaleendofthepipesecuredinthelowerwrench
(stationarywrench).Tightenthejointuntilyoureach
thefullmachinetorque.
24.Releasethewrenchandcontinuereaming/retraction
asneeded.
