StartingtheFirstPipe
1.Ensurethatallbystandersareawayfromthemachine
andthattheexit-sidelockoutisOn.
2.Movethedrivecarriagefullydownthedrillframeand
spraythespindlethreadswiththreadjointcompound,
thenreturnthedrivecarriagetotheupperendofthe
frame(Figure78).

3.Rotatethecamuntilthecamautomaticallystopsatthe

4.Lowertheelevatorstoloadapipeintothecam.
5.Rotatethecamwiththepipefacingtowardtheoperator

6.Rotatethepipe-grippercamforwarduntilthepipeis
inthegrippers.
7.Gripthepipewiththepipegrippers.
8.Continuetorotatethepipe-grippercamtowardthe
operator,untilthepipeisalignedwiththedrillspindle.
9.Rotatethedrillspindleclockwise,andmovethe
carriageslowlyforwardtoinsertthespindleintothe
femaleendofthepipe(Figure80).

10.Movethedrivecarriageslowlydowntheframe
untilthemalethreadsonthepipeareunderthe
thread-joint-compoundapplicator,andapply
thread-jointcompoundtothethreads.
11.Continuetorotatethedrillspindleclockwise,untilthe
malepipethreadisfullyseatedintothesondehousing
orleadbar.
12.Releaseandretractthepipe-grippercamtothehome
position.
Important:Ensurethatyoufullyretractthe
pipegripperandrotateitallthewayoutorthe
carriagemaycollidewiththegripper,damaging
themachine.
13.Raisethepipeelevator.
14.Retractthecamtothehomeposition(pastthefourth
rowofpipes).
