Ifthesafetyinterlockswitchesaredisconnected
ordamaged,themachinecouldoperate
unexpectedly,causingpersonalinjury.
•Donottamperwiththeinterlockswitches.
•Checktheoperationoftheinterlock
switchesdailyandreplaceanydamaged
switchesbeforeoperatingthemachine.
•Replaceswitchesevery2yearsregardlessof
whethertheyareoperatingproperlyornot.
UnderstandingtheSafetyInterlock
System
Thesafetyinterlocksystemisdesignedtopreventthe
enginefromstartingunless:
•Youaresittingontheseat.
•Thebrakepedalisdepressed.
•Thebladecontrol(PTO)knobisintheDisengaged
position.
•ThetractioncontrolpedalisinNeutral.
Thesafetyinterlocksystemstopstheengineifyourise
fromtheseatandthetractioncontrolpedalisnotin
theNeutralposition,theparkingbrakeisnotset,orthe
bladecontrol(PTO)knobisintheEngagedposition.
Thesafetyinterlocksystemisdesignedtostopthe
mowerif:
•YoushiftintoReversewiththeblades(PTO)
engaged.
•Youremovethebagordumpthegrass.

Switchto
OperateinReverse
Theinterlockfeatureonthemachinepreventsthe
powertake-off(PTO)fromoperatingwhenyouback
upthemachine.Ifyouoperatethemachineinreverse
withtheblades(PTO)engaged(i.e.,withthemower
bladesorotherattachmentrunning),theenginewill
stop.Donotmowinreverseunlessitisabsolutely
necessary.
