locatedbeneaththehood,nearthefueltank(Figure28).
Ifafusegoesout,checkthecircuitwiringforashort.

ServicingtheBattery
Alwayskeepthebatterycleanandfullycharged.Use
apapertoweltocleanthebatteryandbatterybox.If
thebatteryterminalsarecorroded,cleanthemwitha
solutionof4partswaterand1partbakingsoda.Apply
alightcoatingofgreasetothebatteryterminalsto
preventthemfromcorroding.
Batteryvoltageandamperage:12volts,190cold
crankingamps
RemovingtheBattery
Batteryterminalsormetaltoolscouldshort
againstmetalmachinecomponentscausing
sparks.Sparkscancausethebatterygassesto
explode,resultinginpersonalinjury.
Whenremovingorinstallingthebattery,do
notallowthebatteryterminalstotouchany
metalpartsofthemachine.
Donotallowmetaltoolstoshortbetween
thebatteryterminalsandthemetalpartsof
themachine.
1.Disengagetheblades(PTO).
2.Settheparkingbrake.
3.Stoptheengineandwaitforallmovingpartstostop.
4.Removetheignitionkey.
5.Openthehoodtoseethebattery(underthedash
panel).
6.Lifttherubbercoverupoffthenegative(black)
cable.
7.Disconnectthenegative(black)groundcablefrom
thebatterypost(Figure29).
