Checkbeltsforcracks,frayededges,burnmarks,orany
otherdamage.Replacedamagedbelts.
ReplacingtheMowerBelt
Squealingwhenthebeltisrotating,bladesslippingwhen
cuttinggrass,frayedbeltedges,burnmarksandcracks
aresignsofawornmowerbelt.Replacethemowerbelt
ifanyoftheseconditionsareevident.
1.DisengagethePTO,movethemotioncontrollevers
totheneutrallockedpositionandsettheparking
brake.
2.Stoptheengine,removethekey,andwaitforall
movingpartstostopbeforeleavingtheoperating
position.
3.Removetheboltsholdingthebeltcoversandremove
thebeltcovers(Figure58).
4.Removethespringandbeltguidefromtheidlerarm.
5.Removetheexistingbeltifneeded.
6.Installthenewbeltaroundthemowerpulleysand
thegearboxpulleyundertheengine(Figure59).
7.Installspringtotheidlerarm(Figure59).
8.Installthebeltguideonthespringloadedidlerata
45degreeangleasshowninFigure59.
9.Installthebeltcoversbyslidingthecoverintothe
tab,installthebolts,andclosethelatches(Figure58).
