SlopeSafety
Slopesareamajorfactorrelatedtolossofcontroland
rolloveraccidents,whichcanresultinsevereinjuryor
death.Youareresponsibleforsafeslopeoperation.
Operatingthemachineonanysloperequiresextra
caution.
Evaluatethesiteconditionstodetermineifthe
slopeissafeformachineoperationincluding
surveyingthesite.Alwaysusecommonsense
andgoodjudgmentwhenperformingthissurvey.
Reviewtheslopeinstructionslistedbelowfor
operatingthemachineonslopesandreview
theconditionsinwhichyouwouldoperatethe
machinetodeterminewhetheryoucanoperate

neardrop-offs,ditches,embankments,water
hazards,orotherhazards.Themachinecould
suddenlyrolloverifawheelgoesovertheedge
ortheedgecavesin.Establishasafetyarea
betweenthemachineandanyhazard.
Identifyhazardsatthebaseoftheslope.
Iftherearehazards,mowtheslopewitha
pedestrian-controlledmachine.
Ifpossible,keepthecuttingunit(s)loweredtothe
groundwhileoperatingonslopes.Raisingthe
cuttingunit(s)whileoperatingonslopescancause
themachinetobecomeunstable.
Useextremecautionwhileoperatingthe
machinewithgrass-collectionsystemsorother
attachments.Thesecanchangethestabilityofthe
machineandcausealossofcontrol.
StartingtheEngine

itselfwhenanyofthefollowingsituationsoccur:
Initialstartupofanewmachine.
Theenginehasceasedrunningduetolackoffuel.
Maintenancehasbeenperformeduponthefuel
systemcomponents.
1.Removeyourfootfromthetractionpedaland
ensurethatitisinneutral.Ensurethatthe
parkingbrakeisset.
