Note:Increaseordecreasethealternator-belt
tensionandtightenthebolts.Checkthedeectionof
thebeltagaintoensurethatthetensioniscorrect.

Whenproperlytensioned,theinsidemeasurement
oftheextensionspring(hooktohook)shouldbe
approximately8.3to9.5cm(3-1/4to3-3/4inches).
Oncethecorrectspringtensionisattained,adjustthe
stopbolt(carriagebolt)untilthereisapproximately2
to5mm(0.065to0.185inch)clearancebetweenthe
headoftheboltandtheidlerarm(Figure114).
