MeasuringtheMower-DeckPitch
Mower-deckpitchisthedifferenceinheight-of-cut
fromthefrontofthebladeplanetothebackofthe
bladeplane.Useabladepitchof8to11mm(5/16to
7/16inch).Thatisthebackofthebladeplaneis8to
11mm(5/16to7/16inch)higherthanthefront.
1.Positionthemachineonalevelsurfaceonthe
shopoor.
2.Setthemowerdecktothedesiredheightofcut.
3.Rotateabladetopointstraightforward.
4.Usingashortruler,measurefromtheoorto
thefronttipoftheblade.
5.Rotatethebladetiptotherearandmeasure
fromtheoortothetipoftheblade.
6.Subtractthefrontdimensionfromtherear
dimensiontocalculatethebladepitch.
AdjustingtheCenterMower-Deck
Pitch
1.Loosenthejamnutsonthetoporbottomofthe
height-of-cut-chainU-bolt(Figure122).
2.Adjusttheothersetofnutstoraiseorlowerthe
rearofthemowerdeckandattainthecorrect
mower-deckpitch.
3.Tightenthejamnuts.

1.Removethecapscrewsandnutssecuringthe
casterarmtothecasterfork(Figure123).
2.Positiontheshims,asrequired,toraiseorlower
thecasterwheeluntilthemowerdeckhasthe
correctpitch.
3.Installthecapscrewsandnuts.

RemovingtheBushings
Thecasterarmshavebushingspressedintothe
topandbottomofthetubeandaftermanyhoursof
operation,thebushingsdevelopwear.T ocheckthe
bushings,movethecasterforkbackandforthand
fromsidetoside.Ifthecasterspindleislooseinside
thebushings,replacethebushings.
1.Raisethemowerdecksothatthewheelsareoff
theoorandblockthemowerdecksoitcannot
fall.
2.Removethetensioningcap,spacer(s),and
thrustwasherfromthetopofthecasterspindle.
3.Pullthecasterspindleoutofthemountingtube.
Note:Keepthethrustwasherandspacer(s)on
thebottomofthespindle.
4.Insertapinpunchintothetoporbottomofthe
mountingtubeanddrivethebushingoutofthe
tube(Figure124).
