neardrop-offs,ditches,embankments,water
hazards,orotherhazards.Themachinecould
suddenlyrolloverifawheelgoesovertheedge
ortheedgecavesin.Establishasafetyarea

•Identifyhazardsatthebaseoftheslope.
Iftherearehazards,mowtheslopewitha
pedestrian-controlledmachine.
•Ifpossible,keepthecuttingunit(s)loweredtothe

themachinetobecomeunstable.
•Useextremecautionwithgrass-collectionsystems

StartingtheEngine
1.Ensurethattheparkingbrakeisengaged.
2.Removeyourfootfromthetractionpedaland
ensurethatitisintheNEUTRALposition.
3.TurntheignitionkeytotheRUNposition.
4.Whentheglowindicatordims,turntheignition
keytotheSTARTposition.
5.Releasethekeyimmediatelywhentheengine
startsandallowittoreturntotheRUNposition.
6.Allowtheenginetowarmupatlowspeed
(withoutload)for3to5minutes,thenactuate
thethrottleswitchtoattainthedesiredengine
speed.
Important:Thestartermotorautomatically
disengagesafter30secondstoprevent
prematurestartermotorfailure.Iftheengine
failstostartafter30seconds,turnthekey
totheOFFposition,checkthecontrolsand
proceduresagain,wait2minutes,andrepeat
thestartingprocedure.
Note:Whenthehydraulic-uidtemperature
isbelow4°C(40°F),themachineoperatesin
awarm-upmode;limitingtheenginespeed
to1,650rpmandpreventingtraction-drive
