bytheengine-coolanttemperature.Areversecycle
automaticallyinitiatesbothfanswheneitherthe
enginecoolantorhydraulic-uidtemperaturereaches
acertainpoint.Thisreversalblowsdebrisoffthe
screens,loweringtheengineandhydraulic-uid
temperatures(Figure67).Additionally,theradiator
fansperformareversecycleevery21minutes
regardlessofthecoolanttemperature.

OperatingtheMachine
StarttheengineandrunitattheHALFIDLEposition
untilitwarmsup.Movetheengine-speedswitch
toHIGHIDLE,liftthecuttingunits,disengagethe
parkingbrake,presstheforwardtractionpedal,
andcarefullydrivetoanopenarea.
Practicemovingforwardandreverse,andstarting
andstoppingthemachine.Tostopthemachine,
removeyourfootfromthetractionpedalandletit
returntoNEUTRALorpressdownonthereverse
pedal.
Note:Whengoingdownhillinthemachine,you
mayneedtousethereversepedaltostop.
Practicedrivingaroundobstacleswiththecutting
unitsupanddown.Becarefulwhendriving
betweennarrowobjectssothatyoudonotdamage
themachineorcuttingunits.
Alwaysdriveslowlyinroughareas.
Ifanobstacleisintheway,liftthecuttingunitsto
mowaroundit.
Whentransportingthemachinefrom1workarea
toanother,shutoffthePTO,raisethecutting
unitstothefullyupwardposition,pressthe
mow/transportswitchtotheTRANSPORTposition,
engagethetransportlatches,andplacethethrottle
intheFASTposition.
ChangingMowingPatterns
Changemowingpatternsoftentominimizeapoor
after-cutappearancefromrepeatedlymowinginthe
samedirection.
UnderstandingCounterbalance
Thecounterbalancesystemmaintainshydraulic
backpressureonthecuttingunitliftcylinders.
Thispressureimprovestractionbytransferringthe
cuttingunitweighttothemower-drivewheels.The
counterbalancepressurehasbeensetatthefactory
toanoptimalbalanceofafter-cutappearanceand
tractioncapabilityinmostturfconditions.
Decreasingthecounterbalancesettingcanproducea
morestablecuttingunit,butcandecreasethetraction
capability.Increasingthecounterbalancesettingcan
increasethetractioncapability,butmayresultina

straighttowardit.
Assoonasthefrontcuttingunitsreachtheedge
ofthemowingarea,performateardrop-shaped
turntoquicklylineupforyournextpass.
Bolt-inmulchingbafesareavailableforthe
cuttingunits.Themulchingbafesperformwell
whenyoumaintainturfonaregularschedule
toavoidremovingmorethan25mm(1inch)of
growthpercutting.Whenyoucuttoomuchgrowth
withthemulchingbafesinstalled,theafter-cut
