tostartthebacklappingoperationonthedesignated

8.Applylappingcompoundwithalong-handlebrush.
Neveruseashort-handledbrush.
9.Ifthereelsstallorbecomeerraticwhilebacklapping,
selectahigherreelspeedsettinguntilthespeed
stabilizes,thenreturnthereelspeedtosetting1orto
yourdesiredspeed.
10.Tomakeanadjustmenttothecuttingunitswhile
backlapping,turnthereelsoffbymovingtheLower
Mow/Raiseleverrearward;theEnable/Disableswitch
totheDISABLEposition,andshutofftheengine.After
completingtheadjustments,repeatsteps5through9.
11.Repeattheprocedureforallthecuttingunitsthatyou
wanttobacklap.
12.Whenyouarenished,returnthebacklapleverto
theMOWposition,lowertheoorpanel,andwash
alllappingcompoundoffofthecuttingunits.Adjust
thecuttingunitreel-to-bedknifecontactasneeded.
Movethecuttingunitreelspeedcontroltothedesired
mowingposition.
Important:Ifthebacklapswitchisnotreturned
totheF(MOW)positionafterbacklapping,the
cuttingunitswillnotraiseorfunctionproperly.
Note:Forabettercuttingedge,runaleacrossthe
frontfaceofthebedknifeafterlapping.Thisremoves
anyburrsorroughedgesthatmayhavebuiltupon
thecuttingedge.
Storage
StoringtheBattery
Ifthemachinewillbestoredmorethan30days,remove
thebatteryandchargeitfully.Storethebatteryinacool
atmospheretoavoidquickdeteriorationofthechargeinthe
battery.Topreventthebatteryfromfreezing,ensurethatitis
fullycharged.Thespecicgravityofafullychargedbattery
is1.265to1.299.
PreparingtheMachinefor
SeasonalStorage
Followtheseproceduresanytimeyouwillbestoringthe
machineformorethan30days.
PreparingtheTractionUnit
1.Parkthemachineonalevelsurface,lowerthecutting
units,engagetheparkingbrake,shutofftheengine,
andremovethekeyfromtheignitionswitch.
2.Thoroughlycleanthetractionunit,thecuttingunits,
andtheengine.
3.Checkthetirepressure.Inatealltiresto83kPa(12
psi).
4.Checkallfastenersforlooseness;tightenasnecessary.
5.Greaseoroilallgreasettingsandpivotpoints.Wipe
upanyexcesslubricant.
6.Lightlysandandusetouch-uppaintonpaintedareas
thatarescratched,chipped,orrusted.Repairanydents
inthemetalbody.
7.Servicethebatteryandcablesasfollows:
A.Removethebatteryterminalsfromthebattery
posts.
B.Removethebattery.
C.Slowlychargethebatterybeforestorageandevery
60daysthereafterfor24hourstopreventlead
sulfationofthebattery.
Topreventthebatteryfromfreezing,makesure
itisfullycharged.Thespecicgravityofafully
chargedbatteryis1.265to1.299.
D.Cleanthebattery,terminals,andpostswithawire
brushandbaking-sodasolution.
E.Coatthecableterminalsandbatterypostswith
Grafo112Xskin-overgrease(ToroPartNo.
505-47)orpetroleumjellytopreventcorrosion.
F.Eitherstorethebatteryontheshelforon
themachineinacoolarea.Leavethecables
disconnectedifthebatteryisstoredonthe
machine.
