Ensurethatyouunderstandthatthefuelsystem
maintenance,fuelstorage,andfuelqualityrequire
yourattentiontoavoiddowntimeandextensive
enginerepairs.
Thefuelsystemhasextremelytighttolerancesdue
totheemissionsandcontrolrequirements.Diesel
fuelqualityandcleanlinessismoreimportantfor
thelongevityoftoday’shigh-pressurecommonrail
(HPCR)fuel-injectionsystemusedondieselengines.
Important:Waterorairinthefuelsystemwill
damageyourengine!Donotassumethatnewfuel
isclean.Ensurethatyourfuelisfromaquality
supplier,storeyourfuelcorrectly,anduseyour
fuelsupplywithin180days.
Important:Ifyoudonotfollowtheproceduresfor
fuellterreplacement,fuelsystemmaintenance,
andfuelstorage,theenginefuelsystemcouldfail
prematurely.Performallfuelsystemmaintenance
atthespeciedintervalsorwheneverthefuelis
contaminatedoritsqualityispoor.
StoringFuel
Appropriatefuelstorageiscriticalforyourengine.
Propermaintenanceoffuelstoragetanksisoften
overlookedandleadstothecontaminationoffuel
deliveredtothemachine.
•Acquireonlyenoughfuelthatyouwillconsume
within180days.Donotusefuelthathasbeen
storedformorethan180days.Thishelps
eliminatewaterandothercontaminatesinthefuel.
•Ifyoudonotremovethewaterfromthestorage
tankormachinefueltank,itcanleadtorustor
contaminationinthestoragetankandfuelsystem
components.T anksludgedevelopedbymold,
bacteria,orfungusrestrictsowandclogsthelter
andfuelinjectors.
•Inspectyourfuelstoragetankandmachinefuel
tankregularlytomonitorthefuelqualityinthetank.
•Ensurethatyourfuelcomesfromaqualitysupplier.
•Ifyoundwaterorcontaminantsinyourstorage
tankormachinefueltank,workwithyourfuel
providertocorrecttheproblemandperformallfuel
systemmaintenance.
•Donotstoredieselfuelintanksorcanistersmade
withzinc-platedcomponents.
