•Inspectthebladesandbedknivesperiodicallyfor
excessivewearordamage.
•Usecarewhencheckingtheblades.Weargloves
andusecautionwhenservicingthem.Only
replaceorbacklapthebladesandbedknives;
neverstraightenorweldthem.
•Onmachineswithmultiplecuttingunits,takecare
whenrotatingacuttingunit;itcancausethereels
intheothercuttingunitstorotate.

Eachdaybeforeoperating,checkreel-to-bedknife
contact,regardlessifthequalityofcuthadpreviously
beenacceptable.Theremustbelightcontactacross
thefulllengthofthereelandthebedknife(refer
toAdjustingtheReeltoBedknifeintheOperator's
Manualforthecuttingunits).
BacklappingtheCutting
Units
WARNING
Contactwiththecuttingunitsorothermoving
partscanresultinpersonalinjury.
•Keepyourngers,hands,andclothing
awayfromthecuttingunitsandother
movingparts.
•Neverattempttoturnthecuttingunitsby
handorfootwhiletheengineisrunning.

whicharetobebacklapped;refertothecutting
unitOperator'sManual.
4.Unlockandraisetheseattoexposethemower
manifold(Figure150).
