Thesafetyalertsymbol(Figure2)isusedtoalertyouto
potentialpersonalinjuryhazards.Obeyallsafetymessages
thatfollowthissymboltoavoidpossibleinjuryordeath.
Improperlyusingormaintainingthismowercouldresultin
injuryordeath.Toreducethispotential,complywiththe
followingsafetyinstructions.
Thefollowinginstructionshavebeenadaptedfromthe
ANSI/OPEIstandardB71.1-2003.
Thiscuttingmachinecanamputatehandsandfeetand
throwobjects.Failuretoobservethefollowingsafety
instructionscouldresultinseriousinjuryordeath.
GeneralOperation
ā¢Read,understand,andfollowallinstructionsonthe
machineandinthemanual(s)beforestarting.
ā¢Donotputhandsorfeetnearorunderthemachine.
Keepclearofthedischargeopeningatalltimes.
ā¢Onlyallowresponsibleadults,whoarefamiliarwiththe
instructions,tooperatethismachine.
ā¢Cleartheareaofobjectssuchasrocks,wire,toys,etc.,
whichcouldbethrownbytheblade.Staybehindthe
handlewhentheengineisrunning.
ā¢Besuretheareaisclearofbystandersbeforeoperating.
Stopmachineifanyoneentersthearea.
ā¢Donotoperatemachinebarefootedorwhilewearing
sandals.Alwayswearsubstantialfootwear.
ā¢Donotpullthemachinebackwardunlessitisabsolutely
necessary.Alwayslookdownandbehindbeforeand
whilemovingbackward.
ā¢Neverdirectdischargedmaterialtowardanyone.Avoid
dischargingmaterialagainstawallorobstruction.
Materialmayricochetbacktowardtheoperator.Stopthe
bladewhencrossinggravelsurfaces.
ā¢Donotoperatemachinewithouttheentiregrasscatcher,
dischargeguard,rearguard,orothersafetyprotective
devicesinplaceandworking.
ā¢Neverleavearunningmachineunattended.
ā¢Stoptheengineandwaituntilthebladescometoa
completestopbeforecleaningthemachine,removingthe
grasscatcher,oruncloggingthedischargeguard.
ā¢Operatemachineonlyindaylightorgoodartiīciallight.
ā¢Donotoperatemachinewhileundertheinīuenceof
alcoholordrugs.
ā¢Neveroperatethemachineinwetgrass.Alwaysbesure
ofyourfooting;walk;neverrun.
ā¢Disengagethedrivesystem,ifsoequipped,before
startingtheengine.
ā¢Ifthemachineshouldstarttovibrateabnormally,stop
theengineandcheckforthecauseimmediately.Vibration
isgenerallyawarningoftrouble.
