In driving
Please drive safely and follow the steps below.
■to start the engine

■Start
Automatic car
Set the shift lever to D while pressing the brake pedal (P.
133)
Release the parking brake (P. 141)
Gradually take your foot off the brake pedal and slowly step on the
accelerator pedal to start.
Manual car
Set the shift lever to 1st speed while pressing the clutch
pedal and brake pedal (P. 139).
Release the parking brake (P. 141)
Gradually release your foot from the clutch pedal, and at the same time slowly depress
the accelerator pedal to start.
■Stop
Automatic car
Keep the shift lever at D and step on the brake pedal.
Apply the parking brake if necessary
When stopping for a long time, set the shift lever to P or N. (P.
133)
Manual car
While pressing the clutch pedal, step on the brake pedal
Apply the parking brake if necessary
When stopping for a long time, set the shift lever to N.
