5-2. Emergency measures
■When the starter does not turn / The interior lights / headlights do not
turn on / The horn does not sound
The possible causes are as follows:
● The battery terminal may be disconnected.
● The battery may be dead. (P. 351)
If you do not know how to take the procedure, or if the engine does not start even after
taking the procedure, contact your Toyota dealer.
Emergency start function (vehicles equipped with smart entry & start system)
If the engine does not start during normal engine starting operation, the
engine may start using the following procedure. Do not start this way except in
an emergency.
Automatic car
Make sure the parking brake is applied
Make sure the shift lever is in the P position
Put the "engine start / stop" switch into accessory mode

Step on the brake pedal firmly “Engine start / stop”
Press and hold the switch for about 15 seconds or more
