Maintenance and Adjustment
Engine Oil
In order for the engine, transmission, and
clutch to function correctly, maintain the
engine oil at the correct level, and change the
oil and oil filter in accordance with scheduled
maintenance requirements.
Oil Level Inspection
1. Filler cap/dipstick
2. Maximum mark
3. Minimum mark
Start the engine and let it idle for five
minutes. Stop the engine and wait three
minutes.
Carefully clean the area around the filler
cap/dipstick before removal.
Remove the filler cap/dipstick from the
crankcase, wipe the dipstick clean and refit
the filler cap/dipstick, screwing it fully home.
Note:
• The actual level is indicated when
the motorcycle is upright, (not on
the side stand) and when the filler
cap/dipstick has been screwed fully
home.
Remove the filler cap/dipstick.
The maximum oil level is indicated by a mark
on the filler cap/dipstick. When the oil level is
correct, the indicated oil level must be
between the maximum and minimum lines
on the dipstick.
If the oil level is too low, add oil a little at a
time until the correct level is reached.
Once the correct level is reached, fit the filler
cap/dipstick.
Motorcycle operation with insufficient,
deteriorated, or contaminated engine oil
will cause accelerated engine wear and
may result in engine or transmission
seizure. Seizure of the engine or
transmission may lead to sudden loss of
control and an accident.
