Safety instructions
This device can be used by children aged 8 and over, as well
as by persons with reduced physical, sensory or mental capa-
bilities or with a lack of experience and knowledge, provided
that they are supervised or have been instructed on how to
use the unit safely and that they understand the resulting
risks. Children must not be allowed to play with the unit.
Cleaning and maintenance must only be carried out by an
expert.
If the gas system is leaking or if there is a smell of gas:
Extinguish all naked flames
Do not smoke
Turn off devices
Close gas cylinder
Open windows and doors
Do not operate any electric switches
Have the entire system inspected by an expert!
Repairs may only be carried out by an expert!
A new O-ring must be fitted whenever the exhaust duct
has been removed!
Guarantee claims, warranty claims and acceptance of liability
will be ruled out in the event of the following:
Modifications to the device (including accessories),
Modifications to the exhaust duct and the cowl,
Use of replacement and accessory parts other than original
Truma parts,
Failure to follow the installation and operating instructions.
The device’s operating permit, and consequently also the ve-
hicle’s operating permit in some countries, are also rendered
void.
The 50 mbar operating pressure of the gas supply must corre-
spond to the device’s operating pressure (see type plate).
Natural gas heating systems must be connected to the vehicle’s
own CNG system according to the respectively applicable tech-
nical and administrative regulations of the destination country.
In Germany, for example, in accordance with DVGW Worksheet
G 609 Draft and VdTÜV leaflet 757. The Truma work instruc-
tions “Natural Gas (CNG) Heaters in Motor Vehicles” take the
relevant requirements into consideration.
The relevant employer’s liability insurance association acci-
dent prevention regulations must be observed for vehicles
used for commercial purposes (in Germany, e.g. BGV D 34).
The testing of the low pressure gas supply for heating and the
equipment itself must be repeated in Germany by an expert
(DVFG, TÜV, DEKRA) in accordance with G 609 Draft within
the same time periods as the main inspection (§ 29 StVZO)
and confirmed on an appropriate test certificate (in Germany
e.g. G 609 Draft, i.e. in the Truma test certificate).
The vehicle owner is responsible for having the check
carried out.
Pressure regulating devices and hoses must be replaced with
new ones no more than 10 years after their date of manufac-
ture (every 8 years if used commercially). This is the responsi-
bility of the operator.
Gas equipment must not be used during fuelling, in multi-
storey car parks, in garages, or on ferries.
During the initial operation of a brand new appliance (or after
it has not been used for some time), small quantities of fumes
and a slight odour may briefly occur. It is a good idea to allow
the device to run at maximum output during this time, and
ensure that the area is well ventilated.
An unusual burning noise or flame increase is indicative of
a regulator defect and means that the regulator must be
checked.
Heat-sensitive objects such as spray cans may not be stored
in the same compartment where the heater is installed be-
cause, under certain conditions, this area may be subject to
elevated temperatures.
Only pressure regulating equipment that is compliant with
EN16129 or compliant with DIN 4811 in Germany (in vehicles)
with a fixed output pressure of 50 mbar may be used for the
gas system. The flow rate of the pressure regulating equip-
ment must correspond to at least the maximum consumption
of all devices installed by the system manufacturer.
Controller connecting hoses that meet national regulations
must always be used in the respective country for which the
equipment is destined. These hoses must be checked regu-
larly for brittleness. Winter-proof special hoses must always
be used if the equipment is operated during the winter.
If the pressure regulator is exposed to the weather – particu-
larly in commercial vehicles – the regulator must always be
protected by the Truma protection hood (series accessories in
commercial vehicle mounting set).
Important operating notes
If the cowl has been placed near or directly beneath an open-
ing window, the device must be equipped with an automatic
shut-off device in order to prevent operation with the window
open.
The integrity and tight fit of the exhaust double duct must be
checked regularly, particularly at the end of long trips. Also
check the mounting of the unit and the cowl.
Following a blow-back (misfire) always have the exhaust duct
checked by an expert!
For heaters mounted outside the vehicle, the flexible air ducts
must be checked for damage at regular intervals. A damaged
duct may allow exhaust gas to enter the vehicle.
The cowl for exhaust gas discharge and combustion air intake
must be kept free of contamination (slush, leaves etc.) at all
times.
The integrated temperature limiter blocks the gas supply
when the unit becomes too hot. The warm air outlets and the
opening for the circulating air return must therefore not be
closed.
In the case of defects in the electronic control board, it must
be sent back with sufficient padding. If this is not done, the
warranty shall be invalidated. Always use original control
boards as replacement parts!
Only original Truma parts may be used for maintenance and
repair work.
If exhaust gas is discharged beneath the floor, it must be en-
sured that the vehicle floor is be sealed. In addition, at least three
sides beneath the vehicle floor must be free to ensure that the
exhaust gas can escape unhindered (snow, stone guard etc.).
