Appendix B. Wireless Network Requirements
The following Wi-Fi network specifications are supported by the Tyto Device.
Note: Network specifications differ between G1 and G2 models. To identify your model,
see Section - Identifying the Device Model.
1. IEEE 802.11N (Recommended) \ G
2. G1: 2.4 GHz only. G2: 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz.
a. Please note that AC standard is not supported for the G1 model. 5GHz for G2.
3. Transmitter technical characteristics:
a. G1: Assigned frequency band: 2400 MHz - 2483.5 MHz.
G2: Assigned frequency band: 2412 MHz – 2484 MHz, 5180 MHz – 5825 MHz.
b. RF channel spacing: 5 MHz.
4. Antenna information:
a. Type: Internal WLAN G1: 2.4 GHz. / G2: 2.4 GHz and 5GHz.
b. Antenna Gain, G1: dBi: 3.85 / G2: dBi 3-8.
5. WPA-PSK and WPA2-PSK security standards.
a. Both TKIP and AES encryption protocols are supported.
b. WEP encryption is not supported.
c. Note that a Wi-Fi network password is mandatory to use the Tyto Device and
TytoApp.
6. WPA-Enterprise using a RADIUS authentication server (802.1x) is supported.
7. Web connection proxy, which requires accepting network terms and conditions, is not
supported.
