This Document Supports IM-UPS 5.0 and Higher
Controlled by pattern program, the dispensing head cuts a component from
the carrier tape and places the component in a carrier clip assembly. The
sequencer chain assembly transports the component in the carrier clip
assembly to the insertion area.
While the component is in the carrier clip assembly, it is processed by
removing the carrier tape cardboard and if equipped with an expanded range
verifier, verified for proper polarity and correct component sequence.
The component transfer assembly, transfers the component from the carrier
clip assembly and places it into the insertion tooling.
The insertion head inserts the component leads through holes in the printed
circuit board. The component is inserted with the insertion head orientated in
one of three possible positions. The cutter head then cuts and checks for lead
presences. The cutter head then forms the component lead, securing the
component to the printed circuit board (PCB).
