Part II – Wiring the System5
Page 6
Step 4: Setting the BNC/PRE-AMP Switch
Notice the switch S6 just above Terminal Block 1
(TB1) on the Input board in the drawing. This
switch must be set to the Down position for the
BNC jack and to the Up position if the optional
pre- amp is being used.
Step 5: Connecting the PRE-AMP
If you have ordered optional pre-amp with the
System5, now is the time to connect it. You must
supply the wire to connect the pre-amp to the
System5 and connect it as shown in the drawing
(Cable 1). Connect the pre-amp to the Terminal
Block on the Input Board of the System5.
Step 6: Running Power to the Unit
Locate Terminal Block 5 (TB5) in the drawing
and on your unit. Power should be connected to
the unit as follows: wire black (Line) to TB5-7,
green (Ground) to TB5-9 and white (Neutral) to
TB5-12.
(Refer to wiring diagram on Page 6)
Step 7: Wiring the Relays
The four configurable relays in the System5 can
be configured for any one of eight possible
functions including pH Feed Up, pH Feed
Down, Chlorine/Bromine Feed, Ozone Feed,
Sensor Wash, Temperature Control, Dechlor and
Alarm. For details on configuring the relays refer
to the programming section of this manual.
A separate power source should be provided to
power relay outputs. The relay power (not the
main power) should be interlocked with the
recirculation pump. This power should be run
through the normally opened (N.O.) side of the
pump starter auxiliary contact and be connected
to the System5 terminal COM 1, 2, and COM 3,
4. Use corresponding neutral line when wiring
relays. Use 14-gauge wire. (Refer to wiring
diagram on Page 6)
Warning: Failure to provide an interlock could
result in equipment damage and/or constitute a
safety hazard. Improper interlocking may cause
severe damage to the unit due to voltage surges
caused by the start-up of the recirculation
pump.
