Overview

The VuStream 150 is a versatile single-channel encoder and decoder designed for transmitting HDMI 2.0 signals over standard networks. It supports resolutions up to 2160p60 using H.264 and H.265 streams, offering both unicast and multicast capabilities. The device can stream to another VuStream 150 decoder, VuScape controller decoding cards, or standard players like VLC. It allows for user-defined low bitrates to ensure excellent quality with minimal network bandwidth consumption.

Function Description:

The VuStream 150 acts as both an encoder and a decoder within a single compact unit.

  • Encoder Mode: When used as an encoder, it takes an HDMI 2.0 input signal (up to 3840x2160 at 60fps with audio) and encodes it into H.264 or H.265 streams. It supports various streaming protocols including RTSP, SRT, HLS, and NDI-HX. The device can record input to a USB 3.0 disk drive in MP4, TS, or MOV formats, with adjustable recording duration and content (video and audio, video only, or audio only).
  • Decoder Mode: When used as a decoder, it can receive streams from other VuStream 150 encoders, NDI encoders, or video files from the USB 3.0 front port. It outputs the decoded signal via HDMI 2.0.
  • Audio Handling: The device supports 3.5mm stereo analog audio input and output, as well as embedded HDMI audio.
  • Network Connectivity: It connects to the network via a 1Gb/s LAN port with Power over Ethernet (PoE) support, simplifying installation.
  • Control and Configuration: The VuStream 150 is configured via a Web GUI accessible through a browser. It can be connected via a network switch with DHCP or point-to-point directly to a PC.

  • Latency: Ultra-low 60ms latency between encoder and decoder.

Usage Features:

  • Flexible Connectivity: Can be connected to a network switch with DHCP for easy setup or directly to a PC for point-to-point configuration.
  • Web GUI Configuration: All settings are managed through an intuitive web-based graphical user interface (GUI).
  • Device Discovery: The VuStream 150 Device Finder software helps locate the device on the network.
  • Video Source Selection: Users can select HDMI, NDI, stream (URL with UDP/TCP), or video file (from USB 3.0) as the input source.
  • Audio Source Selection: Embedded HDMI audio or 3.5mm analog audio can be selected as the input.
  • Encoder Settings: Comprehensive control over main and sub encoder settings, including resolution, framerate, codec type (H.264/H.265), profile, level, entropy, GOP, video bitrate, crop, color range, audio bitrate, and audio frequency.
  • Streaming Options: Supports various streaming types (HLS, NDI, RTSP, SRT, TS) with configurable ports, accounts, passwords, session names, and multicast options.
  • Recording Functionality: Records input to a USB 3.0 disk drive in MP4, TS, or MOV formats, with adjustable duration and content.
  • Monitor Output: HDMI output and Line-Out settings can be adjusted, including resolution, framerate, and volume.
  • Integration with VuWall Software: Seamless integration with VuWall TRx and VuWall2 for managing and viewing streams.
    • TRx Configuration: Allows associating the VuStream 150 encoder by adding its stream address (e.g., rtsp://admin:vuwall@IP_ADDRESS:554/S1) to a device in a zone.
    • VuWall2 Configuration: Enables creating a new IP device in VuWall2, entering the streaming address, selecting a decoder, and configuring multicast.
  • Secure Distribution: Features secure end-to-end video distribution with AES 128-bit encryption, especially over SRT protocol.
  • Multicast Support: Allows for efficient distribution of streams to multiple viewing endpoints on the network, requiring appropriate network configuration to avoid flooding. VLC Media Player can be configured to force multicast RTP via RTSP.

Maintenance Features:

  • Firmware Update: Allows users to select and update firmware via the Web GUI. It is crucial to ensure no HDMI input source is connected and power is not turned off during the update process.
  • Disk Formatting: Users can format an attached USB disk drive through the Storage Info section.
  • Device Configuration Save/Load: Device settings can be saved and loaded, facilitating quick deployment and restoration.
  • Restore to Default: Resets the device to factory settings and reboots it.
  • System Recovery: If network connection is lost, a system recovery can be performed by connecting a USB keyboard to the front USB port and pressing CTRL + R.
  • Status Monitoring: Provides detailed status information including input signal, record status, stream status, and disk information.
  • Logfile Access: A logfile can be accessed for troubleshooting purposes.
