5.10.2 Service signal

Purpose
The service signal is there to remind the driver that service work is due to be per-
formed.
Fault indicator / warning lamp: When the vehicle has covered a defined distance
(e.g. 100,000 km), the warning indication / warning lamp (amber) will be activated
to show 8 flashes when the ignition is switched on again (while stationary or while
driving). The flashing is repeated each time the ignition is actuated. Additionally the
service notices is stored in the operating data recorder integrated in the ECU.
If the service work has been completed successfully, the service signal should be
reset via the TEBS E Diagnostic Software (Tools, Service interval).
If the vehicle reaches the next defined service interval (e.g. 200,000 km), the ser-
vice signal is generated again.
Parameter setting
The service signal is not active in the factory default settings of the TEBS E Modu-
lator.

Purpose
The GIO operating hours counter (ServiceMind) sums up the operating times of
monitored GIO input signals and the outputs switched by the TEBS E (e.g. ECAS
stand-by times).
Fault indicator / warning lamp: Upon achieving the predefined operating times,
an even (service notice) can be started and can be displayed via the TEBS E Di-
agnostic Software or SmartBoard. Optionally, the event can also be output via the
fault indicator / warning lamp (amber, ABS) or via an external warning lamp at-
tached to the trailer. As soon as the service notice is displayed, the respective ser-
vice should be performed on the vehicle.
Parameter setting
The ServiceMind input is entered via tab 8, General functions.
Service name: You can assign a name to display in the SmartBoard for the moni-
toring function.
Service interval (hours): Enter a sensible interval time for the selected compo-
nent/function here.
Service interval can be reset: The right to reset the service interval on the start
page in the TEBS E Diagnostic Software (Tools, Service interval) here or via the
SmartBoard. The counter can always be reset via the TEBS E Diagnostic Software.
Service interval can be changed: Here the right can be granted to reset the service
interval on the start page in the TEBS E Diagnostic Software (Tools, Service inter-
val) or via the SmartBoard.
Input signal, Internal signal: Here you can use the dropdown menu to assign the
corresponding GIO function to the internal signal (see table below). You can define
whether the operating time of the function should be recorded when it is active or
inactive.
