Checking exciter oil level
Note: The machine has two exciters; therefore, you must always check the ex-
citer oil level of both exciters.
1. Remove any dirt around the screw plugs.
2. Unscrew the screw plug on the oil filler neck and remove complete with seal-
ing ring.
3. Check whether the exciter oil reaches the start of the thread of the filler hole.
Topping up exciter oil
1. Unscrew the screw plug on the oil filler neck and remove with sealing ring.
2. Top up the exciter oil with a clean funnel at the filler neck until the exciter oil
reaches the lower start of the thread on the oil drain hole (for oil specifications
see Chapter Technical Data).
3. Screw in the oil filler neck screw plug along with a new sealing ring and tight-
en it (torque 100 Nm).
4. Screw in the oil filler neck screw plug along with a new sealing ring and tight-
en it (torque 100 Nm).
5. Wipe off any spilled oil.
Note: Dispose of spilt oil in accordance with the applicable environmental regu-
lations.
WARNING
Hot exciter oil can spill, causing scalding injuries.
X Do not open the screw plug on the exiter while the exciter oil is hot.
X Let machine cool off.
