Gear Axle Lubrication
● The gear axle oil lubrication is SAE E.P. 80W-90
(API GL-5) gear lube.
● Check the axle oil level after every 100 hours of
operation by removing the oil level plug. If addi-
tional oil is needed, remove the breather vent on
top of ax le and ll until oil is at the level plug.
● Change axle oil every 1000 hours or two (2)
years.
Hydrostatic Transmission Oil
This tractor is equipped with Walker Transmission
Oil Performance System (TOPS
TM
) which consists
of a reservoir and pump system that maintains the
oil levels in the transmissions while ltering out con-
taminants.

Extending the Warranty
The transmissions are covered by a standard
3 year/3000 hour (prorated after the rst 1,000 hours
of use) warranty to the original owner. Walker will
extend the transmission warranty to 3 years, full
replacement coverage, unlimited hours if the
transmissions are serviced by an authorized Walker
Dealer at the recommended intervals using only
Walker approved oil and lters. Proof of meeting
these service requirements must be submitted prior
to approval for any extended warranty claims.
Checking Hydrostatic Transmission Oil Level
The hydrostatic transmission oil level should be
checked after every 25 hours of machine opera-
tion. Always perform this check when the machine
is cold.
1. Park the mower on a level surface.
2. The level of the oil can be seen through the
sight gauge window on the rear of the reservoir.
The oil ll line should be around the mid-way
point of the sight gauge window.
3. If the oil is below the mid-way point, add oil. The
only Walker approved oil for the transmissions
is Mobil SHC
TM
630 oil (Walker P/N 6450-20).
Thoroughly clean around the reservoir ll cap
before removing the cap. Add oil until it is at the
mid-way point on the sight gauge. Reinstall the
cap and tighten until secure.
NOTE: If oil tends to run a bit low and is being
added regularly, it is likely there is a leak. Contact
your authorized Walker Dealer for inspection and
repair.
Changing Hydrostatic Transmission Oil and Filter
The oil and lter must be changed after the rst 100
hours, at 500 hours, and every 500 hours thereaf-
ter. The transmissions ship from the factory with
Mobil SHC
TM
630 oil. Mobil SHC
TM
630 is the only
factory approved oil for servicing the transmissions
in this tractor.
NOTE: The transmissions should be warm before
draining.
1. Remove the mower deck from the tractor.
IMPORTANT: Thoroughly clean around each
cap, connector, and plug on the reservoir and
the transmissions. Do not allow contaminants to
enter the system during this process which could
lead to damage and premature failure.
2. Drain the oil from the reservoir through the bot-
tom plug on the rear of the reservoir.
3. Drain the oil from each transmission through the
elbow connector on the bottom of the transmis-
sion by disconnecting the line that runs from the
oil pump to the transmission using a 17mm
wrench. See Drain Transmission Oil illustra-
tion for details.
