1.2 Symbols used on the ventilator
Patient valve
The symbol on the patient valve is a reminder
that the lip membrane must be changed immediate-
ly if it becomes crinkled, sticky or misshapen. The pa-
tient valve must not be used again until the
membrane has been changed, as this could cause
malfunction (note “7.3 Checking patient hose sys-
tem“ on page 42).
The symbol indicates the correct position for
insertion of the lip membrane.
When connecting the patient valve, take care to
ensure that the direction of respiratory gas flow is
correct.
